CNC Machining: Creating a Unique Chess Set

Milling a complete chess set from a single block of wood with a CNC machine is incredibly satisfying. The chess piece design and milling method are entirely original, thanks to the 3D model imported into the CAM software. By using just two simple bits for roughing and finishing, you can achieve a high-quality milling job. In this video, I showcase a mix of CNC milling on mahogany and ash wood, two hard woods with contrasting colors, to make the chess set perfect for gameplay. This method doesn't require a 4th rotary axis; simply flipping the wood piece, using pre-drilled centering holes, is sufficient. The relief strategy magically carve all the chess pieces, held together by the matrix with connecting tabs.
