In a game-changer initiative of Gati Shakti Yojana in DFC, the first Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) at Rewari in Haryana built in PPP mode was commissioned by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India. This Rs 8 crore GCT terminal in Haryana for container traffic on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will be operated by Pristine Mega Logistics Park. The most important thing is that this terminal has been made operational within 75 days of awarding the contract. After flagging off a goods train carrying a container at New Rewari station, DFCC Managing Director RK Jain said that it is a game-changer as there will be a shift of cargo from road to rail. Now know what will be the benefit of this terminal. This GCT terminal at Rewari will load three rakes of double stack containers everyday for ports across the country, generating revenue of around Rs 20 crore to Rs 30 crore per day. There are more than 100 stations with DFC and this model will be implemented in maximum number of stations. With the commissioning of the terminal, the turn around time of rakes will reduce from 96 hours to 36 hours, resulting in increased wagon efficiency. Means now a goods train which earlier used to make one round in 96 hours i.e. 4 days, will now make one round in just 36 hours i.e. one and a half days, which will reduce the mall traffic a lot. What used to happen till now was that single-stack containers from many cities of the country were taken to Ludhiana for double-stacking and there was delay due to overloading of containers but now through this terminal, the waiting period has been reduced to a great extent. Will reduce till Single stack container trains coming from Ludhiana, Kanpur and other parts of hinterland will be brought to this GCT and will be made double stack during their journey to the ports. This will save time as well as money. In double stacking, one 20-foot container is loaded on top of another. Double the amount of goods can be shipped in a single trip. On most of the tracks in Indian Railways, the height of overhead equipment is low due to which it is not possible to run double-stack container trains but both edfc and wdfc have high height of overhead equipment on DFC which allows it to carry double-stacking containers comfortably Can go. DFCC Director Nanduri Srinivas said that now DFCC is moving towards building 10 more such speed-shakti terminals by the end of August, which will provide them with a revenue value of about Rs 100 crore. The terminal can act as a logistics hub for EXIM container traffic under the "hub-and-spoke" policy of the Indian Railways. #dfc #indianrailways #trainvideo #doublestackcontainerstrain #freighttrain
