North Carolina, September 2024 (Audio corrected) We don't have a lot of solar panels or lithium batteries, and there isn't much free public land on the east coast. Randy still works full-time so we can't do much travel during the week. So how realistic would it be for us to try and do more slow travel together? We had a lot of questions and this trip to North Carolina was meant to help us answer them. We picked destinations based almost entirely upon how easily I thought we could get there and what it would teach us about our camper and whether we could plan a longer trip together. (We knew we could travel further away if I moved the camper and Randy flew to our destination. See our videos of my trip to and from California, for example.) We didn't expect to be as excited as we were by the places we visited. We've spent so much time in North Carolina but for some reason, we'd developed a habit of only seeing Asheville and points west. It was so lovely to discover even more areas of this beautiful state--Wilkesboro, West Jefferson and even a quick stop in Boone. We found out that we love some North Carolina meads--a beverage we barely knew existed!
