More on revision eyelid surgery: http://eyelifts.com/revision-or-corre... For more about Dr. Prasad’s background training, please visit: http://prasadcosmeticsurgery.com/dr-a... A lady had malar implants removed from her lower eye area, but after the procedure she said the shape of her eyes changed. She says one of her eyes is tiny and does not fully open at the lower eyelid, while the other is big and fully opens at the lower eyelid. She wants to know what caused this, whether it be the doctor’s error, or scar tissue, and wants to know what can be done to fix it. New York Oculofacial plastic surgeon Amiya Prasad, MD reviews her photo and concerns in this video, explaining the possibilities of changes in the lower eyelids due to surgical procedures: 1:18 - Dr. Prasad’s background training and experience in facial implants, cosmetic eyelid surgery, and volume augmentation 1:49 - How malar and sub-malar implants are placed through the mouth, and on the zygomatic bone to fill the space below the lower eyelids 2:20 - How some implant patients from other practices notice their lower eyelids being pulled by malar or sub-malar implants, so they ask Dr. Prasad to remove them 2:35 - How Dr. Prasad is more conservative with these types of implants, so he uses smaller or medium-sized implants 2:44 - How tissue can shift after removal of malar implants 2:58 - How this lady has a slight bruise under her left eye, which could mean that removal procedure was done recently 3:24 - How placement of the implant through or behind the lower eyelid can disrupt tissue in the lower eyelid 3:53 - How it is not recommended to address this issue too soon after the implant was removed because of the ongoing healing process from the removal procedure 4:21 - How eyelid position should still be examined by the operating doctor, even if the revision procedure can’t be done right away 4:29 - How the same doctor who performed the implant procedure can be referred to in pre-operative photos to determine eyelid position before original surgery 4:33 - How asymmetric eyes may have not been noticed prior the original surgery, but is more scrutinized now because of two eyelid procedures already done 4:52 - How she can have revision surgery for her eyelids, but must wait until tissue in the area settles before attempting further surgery 5:23 - How Dr. Prasad does see some asymmetry in her photos, but also says it’s not an obvious asymmetry that will be noticeable to others 5:40 - How she should ask the original doctor who removed the implant to see what can help with asymmetry as it can be a non-surgical solution such as massage and stretching the lower eyelid during the wound healing phase 6:08 How she does have options for treatment, but is best done with the original doctor who already knows her anatomy 6:19 - How if she is not confident with the original doctor, she should see an oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon since this is a specialized area of the eyelids CONNECT WITH US!
