At the end of April, the city and its surroundings are a favoured area of operation for the camera teams of "Special Film Project 186". Meanwhile, Hollywood director George Stevens heads south. In the Dachau concentration camp, his team documents the horrors of the National Socialist extermination policy. They also filmed one of the evacuation transports from the death camps in the East. Stevens: "It was as if we were walking through Dante's visions of hell". In early May, the photojournalists reach Obersalzberg, Hitler's private refuge in the Alps. When US troops conquer Nazi Germany from the West in March 1945, camera teams follow them, documenting the defeated and occupied country. The special feature: they shoot in 16mm colour.
