(29 Aug 1996) T/I: 11:12:49 IFOR soldiers found themselves in the line of fire on Thursday (29/8) as Serb police in Mahala fired on a group of Muslim refugees who were trying to return to their homes. American troops of the NATO Implimentation Force were forced to take refuge behind armoured personnel carriers with the Muslims who had come under fire. Earlier on Thursday, US troops detained 35 Bosnian Serbs, including police and officials after the Serbs attacked Muslims near the village of Mahala injuring 10.
