For more information on iNEMO™ inertial modules: http://bit.ly/iNEMO-inertial-modules Improved GUI for Advanced Inertial Measurement Unit: http://bit.ly/UNICO-GUI This video tutorial shows how to easily configure a silicon-embedded advanced pedometer feature, using ST’s new generation of iNEMO™ Inertial Measurement Units (IMU). Thanks to its superior configurability, the advanced embedded pedometer is suitable for a wide variety of applications, ranging from smartphones to wearable devices. The pedometer works at a 26 Hz pace and is not affected by the power mode selected on the device (such as ultra-low-power, low-power, high-performance), thus guaranteeing an ultra-low-power experience, and at the same time offering extreme flexibility in conjunction with other device functionalities. The advanced pedometer comes with an additional false/positive recognition block, able to enhance the filtering of false-step counting, and only requires 1.5 µA or 4.5 µA (if false/positive recognition is enabled). This is even more impressive considering its estimated accuracy of 98.2%. The pedometer algorithm recognizes real-time walking and running activities, based on statistical data and inhibits the step counter if no walking activity is detected. Like the other pedometer blocks, it can be fully reconfigured. It processes and analyzes accelerometer waveforms in order to count user-steps during walking and running activities. ST provides an intuitive UNICO Graphical User Interface (GUI) to automate the fine-tuning process of the pedometer algorithm (step-counting capabilities) and to generate an optimal configuration through an iterative algorithm included in the tool, based on the collected input dataset. Should you have any questions, or should you wish to test the pedometer algorithm and its performance, please feel free to get in touch with one of ST’s distributors or ST’s sale offices to get support.
