(22 January 2026 - Only By Grace Reflections) First Reading: 1 Samuel 18:6-9; 19:1-7 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 56:2-3, 9-10a, 10b-11, 12-13 Alleluia: 2 Timothy 1:10 Gospel: Mark 3:7-12 We have so many aspirations in life, but why are we not desperate for the Holy One of God, who can make one poor or rich; who can make the barren conceive; and the mother of many languish? The Lord can put one to death and to another, give life. The kingdom of God is here, and it refers to Jesus’ presence in our midst right here, right now. He continues to bless the poor and the struggling. But why are we not desperate for God? Maybe because we are intelligent and strong, and we think we will live long. Or is it because we are comfortable? When life is easy, we often rely on ourselves and forget God. Being desperate means we will seek God before anything and before anyone. It teaches us to pray not as a habit but a lifeline.
