MON JODD: The new “home” of American Classic Cars in the North of Thailand

Mon Jodd in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai, is the latest tourist attraction to arrive on the scene in the North of Thailand. Situated in a mountain valley it aims squarely at the current fashion for venues with photographable features – and it certainly has more than most. From fields of coloured flower bed (already a signature of the Chiang Mai region) to ornate vintage buildings, classic cars, motorcycles, aircraft, boats and accessories such as sofas, bathtubs, fireplaces, mantelpieces, bookshelves and ornamental tables. Classic American pickups provide a “taxi” service for visitors in a big loop around the huge grounds. Mon Jodd (the “Jodd” comes from the owners’ name) also has a vintage style coffee shop, a huge lake with ornamental wooden paneled boat house as well as wigwam-style tents, hangar, late afternoon hot air balloon rides and rows of “Rot Kapor” style food trucks. From the owners of the famous Train Night Market Srinakarin in Bangkok the standout of Mon Jodd for petrolheads is the more than a dozen classic American cars and pickups arrayed around the venue for photo opportunities, most of which are usually to be seen on show at the Bangkok Night Market. 12 January 2020. #MonJodd #ChiangMai #MaeRim
