One of the major upgrades over the original Wingman is the double Velcro closure, which replaces the older nylon strap system that tended to come loose during rides. This new closure system provides a more secure and seamless fit. In terms of support, Skip notes that while the Stage harness maintains a minimalist design, it offers more back support than the original Wingman thanks to improved EVA foam molding. However, it doesn't quite match the broader, stiffer support shell of the Carbon X. Skip appreciated that the EVA material doesn’t absorb water, keeping the harness lightweight throughout his session. Another practical improvement is the updated attachment point system at the back, which allows riders to choose between different rigging setups, though it lacks the classic nylon loop. Skip personally modified his own with an O-ring to retain that flexibility. After a few sessions, Skip found the Stage harness offered solid support for riders like him who rely heavily on a harness to extend sessions. He suggests the Stage is a great entry point for riders who want to start using a harness without the bulk or cost of a more robust model like the Carbon X.
