The Awakened Dawn is a project that found its opportunity for creation in France. This project seeks to create an inner dialogue between words and music, blending history, poetry, and sound composition. It is the result of several years of research by Haddad Heydari on the connections between ancient literature and contemporary Iranian poetry, with particular focus on the works of Ahmad Shamlou (1925–2000). It also aims to weave a sensitive and poetic link between Shamlou’s poems and those of certain French poets, around universal themes such as the relationship between human beings, nature, and the surrounding space—while exploring the philosophical dimensions of love. The sounds and images that compose The Awakened Dawn were recorded and captured at Noirlac Abbey and the Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand, providing a rich and historical backdrop to the project. A video installation created by Niloufar Baniasadi accompanies the musical composition; it is visually inspired by traditional Iranian carpets and seeks to intertwine their intricate symbolism with Gothic architectural elements. The project was created in September 2024 with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, and Noirlac Abbey. It premiered in October 2024 at Noirlac Abbey in France.
