On the next Michael Graham show, this show is personal to me because all of my guest for this show are FAMILY!!! 1. Jay Shorter is a basketball coach and educator in the Washington, D.C. area, known for his extensive coaching career in middle school and with the DC STORM AAU team. My opinion is the Mount Rushmore of Basketball coaching in middle school America and the DMV. He is currently the head boys basketball coach for Jefferson Middle School in Southwest D.C. and has a history of leading his teams to championships, including an AAU National Championship. Coaching Highlights & Experience Middle School Success: Coach Shorter has a track record of significant success in middle school basketball, securing twenty-one middle school championships the most by any basketball coach high school, middle, and elementary in the DMV history. AAU Coaching: Shorter founded the DC STORM, an AAU program that focuses on mentoring and life skills for student-athletes, winning a National Championship. Player Development: He has successfully guided over 150 middle school players to Division I colleges on athletic scholarships and many more to Division II and III schools. Educational Background & Philosophy American University Graduate: Coach Shorter is an alumnus of American University. He has 30 years of teaching experience in the Washington, D.C., and Virginia areas. Emphasis on Character: His coaching philosophy emphasizes sportsmanship, character-building, commitment, and prioritizing academics alongside athletics. 2. DC Basketball Legend Tyrone Jones Jones, a 6-foot-6 wing, under the legendary Dunbar coach Joe Dean Davidson spent two years at Hutchinson Community College and landed at Oklahoma University in 1988. He was coached at Oklahoma by the legendary Billy Tubbs and played alongside future first round NBA Draft selections Mookie Blaylock, Harvey Grant and Stacey King. 3.RONALD "HORSE" HINES Athletic Director at Jefferson Middle school and work as a community activist in the Southwest area of Washington, DC. He was born and raised in Southwest Washington, DC. 4 .Phil Gamble DC basketball legend, was a Guard for the UConn Huskies from 1985 – 1989. He was the Most Valuable Player in the first ever UConn National Invitational Tournament Championship in 1988 and he was also named to Big East All Freshman Team in 1985-86. Phil is also a member of the UConn Basketball All Century Ballot. 5. Perry Carter is USA-Spanish basketball player out of Southwest D.C. He is a 6'8'' center played in Grupotel.com Muro in Spanish 1Div. Carter graduated Ohio State University in 1991.
