Valley Fire near Boise grows in size, evacuation notices issued

According to a recent news release, Boise District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Boise Fire Department responded to a fire about one mile east of Boise on the north side of Highway 21 just after 4 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. The Valley Fire is estimated at 4,000 acres. People are asked to avoid the area until further notice. Highway 21 is open to Idaho City while Warm Springs Road north is closed from Highway 21 to Eckert Road in Southeast Boise for the safety of firefighters and the public. The impacted areas are: *A CodeRed pre-evacuation notice was sent out to residents of Warm Springs Avenue from East Sky Bar Street, east to Highway 21, and all residents on Highland Valley Road *A Code Red "SET" notification has been sent to Council Springs/Trapper Place/Foxgrove neighborhoods *Robie Creek and other residences off Warm Springs Avenue between Eckert Road and Highway 21 are at the "SET" evacuation stage. *Boise Fire is also posting pre-evacuation and evacuation notices on social media. BLM is the official source for Valley Fire updates. BLM has sent four overhead, five engines, two dozers, Boise City Fire, and one investigator to respond to the fire. Boise Fire is responding with one battalion chief, five structure engines, two brush rigs, and a water tender on a mutual aid request to this fire. Boise School District says authorities have directed East Junior High and Dallas Harris Elementary to be closed on Friday due to the wildfire. Any students on the bus will be taken to Les Bois Junior High School where parents and guardians can pick up their children.
