Socket grafting with Bond Apatite & collagen sponge

The following video presents one of several protocols related to socket grafting with Bond Apatite bone cement. In a case where four bony walls remain after tooth extraction, socket grafting can be accomplished without flap reflection. The Bond Apatite bone cement is placed in to the prepared socket and covered by a simple collagen sponge. The collagen sponge will help contain the uncovered Bond Apatite bone cement ( if the socket opening is more then 3mm) during the first days of healing, until complete soft tissue proliferation has taken place and the socket is closed. It is of paramount importance that the collagen sponge is secured by the first suture to the surrounding soft tissue, thereafter additional cross suturing can be added above the socket to help keep the collagen sponge in place.
