I decided to go camping in the peaceful solitude of the high desert. I figured it would provide the perfect environment for testing some new prototypes we had recently produced. Sure, I could have tested these parts at home or back behind the shop but it felt like a good excuse to get out and enjoy some quiet time in the wild. I've always loved how the Firebox Freestyle Hex Stove folded into a single stack that fit inside the closed Fire-Pan-Tin... The one drawback has always been that the fire-grate didn't fit in the tin with the stove. All that's changed, now that we have mastered hinge-making on our own manufacturing equipment. We have now produced a folding Fire-Grate that fits into the storage tin with the stove…but that wasn't quite enough. Having a grill is something I couldn't live without so we made one that fits into the folded Fire-Grate, as well. I also love cooking with the radiant heat of a flame, which means you need to have the ability to support your grill-plate off to the side of the main burn area. So we developed locking fire sticks that cantilever off to the side of the stove. Which allows plenty of space for you to gently roast your beloved steak by the warmth of a wood flame. The Firebox Freestyle, Hex Stove Kit now offers full functionality, both in convenience of storage and in cooking performance and versatility. This complete package is now becoming one of my favorite stove systems and we are offering pre-order availability within a week or two so that you can appreciate and enjoy this work of engineering art on your own adventures this coming camping season. On this adventure I spend some time exploring a side road where of course, I found the exceptional beauty and thought provoking wonders I've come to expect when in the deserts of Utah. As the day progressed into the afternoon the breeze started to feel more like wind. I decided to seek calmer conditions off the exposed top, down to the shelter the bench. This quick change in elevation made all the difference, very pleasant. I found my home for the night.
