This was the first workshop from the Centre of Excellence for Long-acting Therapeutics – Global Health’s (CELT Global Health) LA-LINK workshop series (29.01.26). LA-LINK (Long-acting Learning, Innovation, Networks and Knowledge) is a recurring online seminar and workshop series hosted by CELT Global Health. It is a component of our Partnership Coordination project. Each session will feature experts from across academia, industry, global health organisations, and regulatory bodies, sharing insights on the science, strategy, and implementation of long-acting technologies. Long-acting medicines and technologies are transforming prevention and treatment for a range of conditions that disproportionately affect people in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs). As the field advances, so does the need for accessible medicines, and LA-LINK aims to be a cross-stakeholder learning space where expertise can be shared, challenges identified, and new collaborations connected. During this first workshop, ‘Application of pharmacokinetic modelling and simulation for long-acting medicines’, experts from around the world came together to speak and answer questions from interested audience members. 00:00 Welcome and introduction from Andy Morrison (CELT Global Health - University of Liverpool (@LivUni), UK) 04:30 – Application of Pharmacometric Modeling and Simulation for long-acting medicines – Dr Frances Williams Ojara – Gulu University (@guluvarsity2368), Uganda 23:50 Q&A for Dr Frances Williams Ojara 24:06 Question from Dr Prajith Venkatasubramanian – Perinatal Pharmacology Group – University of Liverpool, UK 24:41 Question from Laxman Cherkupally –Medicines for Malaria Venture, Switzerland 25:39 Question from Ivan Ibanda - Systems Medicine Group - University of Liverpool, UK 30:04 Population Pharmacokinetics of Long Acting Cabotegravir Injection – Professor Robert Bies – University at Buffalo (@ubuffalo), USA 48.59 Question from Ivan Ibanda - Systems Medicine Group, University of Liverpool, UK 50:54 Question from Muhamad Rizqy Fadhillah – Universitas Indonesia 51:55 Question from Joseph Owori – Infectious Disease Institute, Uganda 53:28 TEORELER 2.0 Demonstration - A Free Web-based Physiologically-Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) Modelling Application - Harshal Hattyangdi - CELT Global Health – University of Liverpool, UK 1:07:13 Application of PBPK modeling to simulate LA cabotegravir / rilpivirine pharmacokinetics in special populations and drug-drug interactions - Dr Catia Marzolini - University of Lausanne (@UNILTV ) and University of Basel (@unibasel), Switzerland 1:37:44 – Wider Q&A and discussion 1:39:10 – Question for Dr Frances Williams Ojara 1:41:38 – Question for Dr Catia Marzolini 1:45:53 – Question for Harshal Hattyangdi 1:48:05 – Question to the speakers in general 1:55:01 – Question and comment from Professor Catriona Waitt – University of Liverpool, Uganda and UK.
