I've been fortunate to visit some really amazing places on business travel, and one such place was the Hobbiton Movie Set from Peter Jackson's, "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" films. I was on business in Auckland, New Zealand almost 2 years ago, and took the opportunity to take a few days of leave after my meetings to do some sightseeing on the North Island. Visiting this film set was my top priority, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. I recently re-read The Lord of the Rings, and binge watched the Extended Version of the films over a weekend. That inspired me to take a collection of my photos from that trip and compile them into this video. The still photos are all mine, and I've interspersed a few video clips from the films for some context, as well as included Howard Shore's, "Concerning Hobbits" song from the film soundtrack. I learned while making this video that the copyright holders of both the soundtrack and films freely allow this type of use of the material, which in my opinion is a really generous way to show appreciation to their fans.
