As Moses climbed the mountain to receive God’s commandments, the people below grew restless. Instead of waiting in faith and gratitude for their deliverance, they turned away from the One who freed them and placed their faith in the work of their own hands. From the gold they carried, they melted and shaped a calf—a lifeless form, given the reverence that belonged to the Almighty. The wind passed through its hollow form, and the calf bellowed—a sound without spirit, an illusion of life, an echo of emptiness. It could not guide them, it could not love them, and yet they bowed before it. Generation after generation, this pattern repeated. The prophets warned, yet the people did not listen. They clung to idols, trusted in their own ways, and turned away from the truth. Today, the golden calf returns—not shaped from gold, but from circuits and screens, radiating artificial light. It does not bellow in the wind, but it speaks in a voice crafted by men. We live in an age where attention is currency, where glowing screens command devotion, and where the hum of machines drowns out the still, small voice calling us home. We give our time, our energy, our worship to what does not have life, to what cannot nourish the soul. The danger is not in the tools themselves, but in how they steal our awareness—pulling us from what is real, from what is eternal. The more we worship the work of our own hands, the less we see the beauty of creation, the less we feel the presence of the Divine. Our minds are filled with noise, our hearts become restless, and we lose sight of why we are here. We are not here to serve machines, to seek endless distractions, or to be slaves to what we have built. We are here to know God, to walk in His light, to embrace the life we were given with clarity and purpose. History repeats itself, and the choice remains. Will we be among those who forget, who give their souls to idols that cannot love, who trade truth for illusion? Or will we be among those who turn toward God, who see through the deception, who hold fast to what is eternal? The light of the world is not found in what our hands create—it is found in the One who made us, who calls us, who waits for us to return. May we find the wisdom to turn back before illusion takes hold. May we awaken to what is real. May we walk the path of our true purpose, before the last light of truth is lost to the shadows. Peace and blessings. The quotes in this video come from the Jewish Tanakh, also known as the Old Testament. These sacred words carry the warnings of the prophets, calling us back to truth, away from the worship of what is empty, and toward the eternal light of God.
