In Murang’a County, central Kenya, women farmers have long carried the burden of agriculture—working the land, yet struggling with low prices, limited market access, and unequal decision-making power. This short documentary series follows smallholder farmers as they take part in EW-ABBA (Empowering Women in Avocado, Beans, and Bees Aggregation)—an initiative by Strathmore University’s Biodiversity Information Development Centre aimed at transforming farming into a profitable, climate-smart, and inclusive family enterprise. Through hands-on training, integrated farming (avocados, yellow beans, and beekeeping), and cooperative aggregation, farmers are improving food security, accessing better prices, and strengthening gender equity at household and community levels. Featuring voices from farmers, this short film documents a growing movement—where knowledge becomes power, farming becomes a shared responsibility, and women lead the way toward sustainable agriculture.
