Shallow Being able to control divot depth is key. Why? If your divots become too deep or are nonexistent, then it's impossible to strike the ball from the correct part of the face. The ideal striking location for a wedge shot is the 2nd to 4th groove. By striking the ball in this part of the face, you will be able to flight your wedges with a lot of spin. Draw When it comes to wedge shots, you don't actually need to hit a draw. However, having the FEELING of hitting a draw is key. Why? The path plays a bigger role in the starting direction due to the added loft. Most amateurs swing out to in with a wedge, causing them to pull their wedge shots. By having the feeling of a draw, you will be able to shift your path from in to out, helping you produce better impact conditions. The shoulders are the key component that will allow you to control your path, so focus on having them square to slightly closed to the target.
