MY TESTIMONY I’d like to take this opportunity to testify publicly about what the Lord has done for me lately. The title of this testimony is power of prayer. I’m sure most of you can relate to the fact that studying to succeed constitutes prayer, exhortation from others and hard work. Now I just completed my bachelor’s in education studies in the summer and the journey wasn’t easy at all. In my 2nd year of studies, my grandmother passed away on top of that I was faced with very difficult and pressing issues that caused me to miss some of the lectures meaning I had to play catch up. During all of that, the prayers and encouragement from family and friends as well us the church family kept me going and I finished my 2nd year with a 1st class pass. Now first forward to the third year of my studies, as I was working on my dissertation that entailed 10,000 words,,, another assignment that comprised around 12,000 words, and another that constituted 17,000 words, my father passed away. I was in pain. So much pain. However, I wasn’t sure whether to go to Tanzania to attend dad’s funeral given that all three assignments were due in about 5 weeks’ time and I did not want to repeat my third year of studies. Besides, my finances were low. Prayers ascended on my behalf and the university sympathised with me and granted me extensions for all three assignments. I also received financial and emotional support from friends, family, church family and the university and I was able to attend my father’s funeral. I call this power of prayer. After 2 weeks of being in Tanzania it was time to fly back to England. I got back to the UK safely and continued with the 3 assignments in the midst of my grief. I was under so much pressure and pain at the same time given that I was still grieving my father’s passing, but the prayers continued. I Had sleepless nights and long days glued around my laptop, however, God gave me the strength and wisdom to complete all my assignments within the timescale, praise God. When my results came through, It, was a pass with a 1st class honours. And I was also a recipient of the Tom tranter achievement award which is an award issued to 1 disadvantaged student each year for high academic attainment or for sport. In my case it was for high academic achievement despite my father passing which was the disadvantage,, and despite being dyslexic. I was also awarded a cash prize by the Education department. And it doesn’t stop there, I also received 2 scholarships for my Master’s degree which commences next week, Praise God. Friends, if it were not for the love, support, encouragement and prayers that I received, I never would have made it this far! So, I just want to encourage you that whatever it is you may be going through please,,, pray on and ask others to pray for and with you because there is power in prayer. And on that note, I leave you with this song. Its called Pray On.
