The story progresses as a mystery for both the reader and the protagonist, which unfolds through a series of personal challenges, adventures, and moral dilemmas. Tarthas is a half elf, almost ranger, with a good heart and terrible judgement, who finds himself with nowhere to call home due to his mixed heritage.
