Kontakt TV: EUROMAIDAN support for Ukrainian protesters at the City Hall - November 28th, 2013

A demonstration took part on Sunday in support of the Ukrainian "Euromaidan" movement at the Ukrainian Consulate on Lake Shore. Over 100 000 people in Kyiv, many more around Ukrainian and European cities are currently protesting the Ukrainian government's decision to break off EU trade/partnership talks by way of refusal to free Yulia Tymoshenko. On Thursday, November 28th, 2013 another demonstration is planned for 8pm at City Hall in Toronto. Mostly student led, and meant to draw attention, inspire and show support for the Ukrainian people, we stand in solidarity with their "Euromaidan" protest to show the Ukrainian government, the EU and the world that the Ukrainian people are in support of closer ties with the EU and want to move on a track to a more developed, responsible and transparent society, where economic principles are guided by the rule of law and democratic principles are upheld. The Canadian government is considering imposing sanctions on the president and members of government over undemocratic behaviour concerning parliamentary elections. The situation is quickly escalating and changing (On the weekend, riot police clashed with and tear gassed numerous protesters; student strikes are planned all over the country; Tymoshenko has started a hunger strike; Yanukovich has reaffirmed his attendance at the Summit in Vilnius 28-29th but asserts the move closer to Russia is "better" - the people's voices are being heard, and their EU desire becoming clear).
