DIY project of building my own automatic watch with mango yellow waffle dial using parts I got from eBay and AliExpress. This video shows the assembly process of the new watch. This could also be used as a SKX mod guide. For a long time, I wanted to build a watch around the Seiko SKX case. I've found this black PVD SKX case with a sapphire crystal. The day-date dial is from a limited-edition Seiko King Turtle, with the nickname "Philippine Sunrise". Seiko went overboard with the Philippine Sunrise with gold tones, I thought that this amazing dial will be better in a muted black case. The color is yellow towards mango. The hands are homage to the Seiko 62MAS but in dark gray for legibility. This is my first day-date watch with Seiko NH36A movement. I’ve made a mistake here, the SKX case is a 3.8 crown position, and this movement is for 3 o’clock crown position. Because of that, the day is not align, and it tilted up a little.
