3 women killed in foiled 'terror attack' on Kenya police station

Three women dressed in robes tricked their way into a Mombasa police station, under the pretext of reporting a stolen phone. They then stabbed one officer and tried setting the building on fire with a petrol bomb, before they were shot dead. Police retrieved a knife and petrol bomb concealed in their traditional robes. It is not clear which group the attackers belonged to, but fingers point at Somalia's al Qaeda-linked Al- Shabaab militant group. The city of Mombasa has been targeted by Islamist militants in recent years, although the frequency of attacks has reduced significantly.
