Prof. Ratele's presentation was titled "Introductory notes to the colloquium “Centering Africa in Health and Social Sciences Research and Teaching”. In his opening address, Prof. Ratele, provided an overview for this first colloquium that is part of a series that seeks to centre Africa and Africans in research, teaching and learning. Herein Ratele clarifies the notions that the organisors and hosts of the colloquia series, himself and Neziswa Titi, have about Africa and Africans. This colloquium was organised by the Trans-Disciplinary African Psychologies Programme of UNISA & the Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit of the SAMRC. The 2nd colloquium, tentatively speaking focused on “sexuality and sexuality-related violence research and advocacy and took place on July 31.
