As a Minnesota native I've been watching from afar the events unfolding in my home state. It's been weeks of extreme mixed emotions but when it's distilled down I think I'd just call it PRIDE. There's a beautiful, sweet defiance that feels so familiar. Neighbors looking out for one another. In Minnesota when the weatherman tells you not to go out in the storm that's when you get out your ice fishing gear. And Minnesotans know how to walk on ice. So I've come out of hiding to share my take on the Rebel Loon design that has been springing up. I feel less helpless making art again and I hope that at the very least I can contribute some joy and inspiration. Loons have always been some of my favorite creatures. When I grew up canoeing the Boundary Waters I always looked forward to their weird wailing and mysterious appearances.
