Follow my hike through the High Line Park (New York City) - a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) walkway along the southern portion of the former elevated freight rail spur in Manhattan's west side, called the West Side Line. The railway was in use from 1934 to 1980. Since 2009, the majority of railway converted to a long and narrow public park. It runs from Gansevoort Street – three blocks below 14th Street – in the Meatpacking District, through Chelsea, to the northern edge of the West Side Yard on 34th Street near the Javits Convention Center and Hudson Yard.
