Perform a factory data reset prior to a mail-in repair, a trade-in, or giving away or recycling your Galaxy phone or tab. First, navigate to your device settings, and then to the General management submenu. Tap Reset. It’s a good practice to create a restore point by backing up your data. You'll see the options to create either a temporary cloud backup with Samsung Cloud or an external storage backup on a USB drive or SD card. For either option, you can select which types to include or leave all options checked to save everything. For a Samsung Cloud backup, you'll also need to be logged in to your Samsung account. Follow the prompts to back up the data you want to save. Once the backup is complete, in the Reset submenu, tap Factory Data Reset. The device will display all the accounts and services that will be removed. Review these and tap Reset when ready. You'll need to enter your security credentials, such as your PIN or pattern, before tapping Delete All to begin the factory data reset. As a final step, you will be prompted to enter your Samsung account password, if logged in on the device. Once this is complete, your device will complete the reset and boot back to the initial setup screen.
