I apply one coat, I always apply with a mit in circular motions as well. I also move fast, so it's an even application all over. I skip my knees ,hands, elbow, and feet till everything else is done and just use what's left on mit for those areas. leave on for 2 hours, then reapply 2nd coat and leave on for an additional 2 hours . 4 hours total!
