#Pregola #Brallo #Oltrepò #castello #chiesa #sculture Il territorio dell’attuale comune del Brallo di Pregola, in provincia di Pavia, si trova in quel tratto di Appennino che si usa indicare "delle quattro province", luogo d’incontro dei dialetti e delle tradizioni liguri, lombarde, emiliane e piemontesi. In una cartina militare dell’esercito Romano relativa alla IX Regio ed al tracciato della via Aemilia Scaura, è segnalato l’abitato di Precele, l’attuale Pregola, che da sempre domina la Valle Staffora dall’alto dei "sassi neri" dai quali prende il nome; Prea Groa significa, infatti, pietra corba, pietra nera. L’antica chiesa fu costruita dai monaci del monastero di S. Colombano di Bobbio, fondato dal santo irlandese nel 614, sopra un’altura che oggi domina il borgo di Pregola. La chiesetta era sul cucuzzolo della montagna e il paese dovrebbe essere sorto intorno ad essa. I resti di quell’antica struttura sono tuttora visibili sotto alcuni metri dalla vetta. I marchesi Malaspina, una delle più grandi famiglie feudali del medioevo, si insediarono a Pregola, e subito costruirono il loro castello sulla stessa montagna già occupata dalla chiesa. Nel tempo, I Malaspina di Pregola si suddivisero in diversi rami, ed iniziarono le controversie, gli intrighi, i rancori, e quindi gli assassinii e le battaglie. Gian Maria Malaspina nel 1575 pose l’assedio al castello di Pregola, lo incendiò distruggendolo completamente. E con il castello venne distrutta anche la chiesa. Successivamente, più in basso all’ingresso di Pregola venne costruito un palazzo, residenza dei marchesi, denominato "castello" ma che più propriamente era una casaforte. Rimase residenza per lungo tempo e appartenne al ramo della famiglia fino alla sua estinzione. Oggi un’ala del castello ospita un ristorante. Dall’altra parte dell’altura, lungo la strada asfaltata è possibile ammirare alcune opere dello scultore artista Gerardo Napoli ("Gerry"). Le sue opere vengono realizzate istintivamente su diversi tipi di materiali quali: mattone, legno, marmo, avorio vegetale, granito e quant'altro riesca ad ispirarlo.
