#photodiamantakis #studioanalog #mamiyacamerahistory The Mamiya Camera Company was founded on May 10, 1940 by Tsunejiro Sugawara and Seichi Mamiya. Their debut product was the medium format Mamiya-6 camera. During World War II, the company's production facilities in Tokyo suffered significant destruction. In order to continue production, Mamiya acquired a factory to manufacture its own shutters and lenses. The company developed numerous innovative camera models, including the Mamiyaflex, the Mamiya 35-I, and the Mamiya Prismat. In the 1980s, Mamiya experienced financial turmoil and subsequently ceased production of 35mm cameras. After a strategic reorientation, the company continued to focus on the production of medium format SLR cameras and later introduced digital models to their portfolio. 00:00 The founding of Mamiya and the patent factory. 01:27 Difficulties and Reconstruction 02:17 The development of lenses 03:49 European influences and Mamiya design 04:19 The Mamiya Super 23 as a professional tool The Diamantakis collection is looking for a new home!
