Elder Care in Action | Taking a 95-Year-Old Living Alone to Hospital 🙏 Today, along with the Zhesarthang Village Tshogpa, we took 95-year-old bachelor Maymay Thinley, who lives alone, to the Primary Health Care Centre, Senggey Geog for proper medical care. As there is no motor road access to his home, we carried him turn by turn until we reached the road. This journey was not easy, but it was necessary—because no elder should ever be left behind. Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came forward with care and compassion. During our earlier visit, we noticed that Maymay Thinley’s legs were swollen and his wounds had gone untreated for a long time. After discussing the matter with the village Tshogpa, we ensured he received medical attention. At the health centre, the dedicated staff kindly: • Cleaned and dressed his wounds • Conducted a full health check-up • Provided the required medicines During the check-up, it was found that his blood pressure was high. Before leaving, we gently advised him to: • Take his medicines on time • Reduce salt and cooking oil • Wash and dress his wounds daily using the medicines provided Maymay Thinley was visibly happy and emotional. He shared that his wounds had finally received treatment and offered heartfelt prayers for everyone who remembered him. This act of kindness is not about charity alone. It is about human connection, dignity, and respect for our elders.
