The city is in a valley between mountains, and due to this, the city spreads out long and not as wide. Sometimes it feels like you are in a different timeline, or in an alternative reality in a good way. Traveling here during the off-season will give you unique memories and can be cheap. During summer it sure is more alive and vibrant, but to just escape for a weekend to a less-known city to get away from the everyday problems, can be an adventure.
