Today in this 2014 Polaris Ranger Crew, were going to install a winch plate, part number 100820. To start our install, well begin by removing the grill. Therell be one bolt on each side and there are three bolts in the bottom we have to remove as well. Next, we need to remove the bumper itself. There are two bolts on each side that go directly to the frame. Well go ahead and remove those two bolts on each side and then well go ahead and remove the bumper and put it aside for now. At this point, you want to get the winch ready to work with the winch plate. Place the winch assembly onto location on the back side of the bumper. Then well line up the three holes on each side. In this case, were going to leave the winch off so you can see how the winch plate mounts up to the vehicle.Then well install the 3/8 hardware which will be the bolt that goes through the bumper and the winch plate mount and then the flat washer and a nut. Now, were going to leave these all loose for now. Now, we can go ahead and reinstall the bumper. Ill put it back in place and reinstall using the existing hardware. Now, you need to install the new grill that comes with the kit. This will use the carriage bolts that go from the inside towards the outside. Now at this point, you would also be running your cable through winch through and also putting the fair lead 0:02:14 as well but for clarity, were going to leave these items off. Itll be a carriage bolt to the mount and then through the fair head and then a nut.Now at this point, well go ahead and do some partial disassembly so that we can install our winch. Well go ahead and take the bumper back off and well take our winch loose. Then well install our winch onto our winch plate. In this case, well be using a winch part number SW1145220 from Superwinch. Well go ahead and install it using the hardware that comes with the winch. This would be a flat washer, a lock washer and a bolt. The nuts have already been preinstalled from the manufacturer on the inside edge of the winch. Well just line up the holes then install the hardware. Once we have all the hardware installed, well go ahead and tighten it down.Next well go ahead and install our wiring onto the winch according to instructions. Theyre labeled number one and two. Number one gets the yellow wire and number two gets the blue wire. Well take the nuts off and then one of the washers then put our wire in place. Then put the flat washer back in and then put the nut back into place. Then well tighten down the leads and then well go ahead and push the rubber cover back over the hardware. At this point, well go ahead and take our bumper with the winch loosely installed and well go ahead and reinstall it. Youre going to need an extra set of hands to help hold at the bumper while we install the hardware.With our bumper reinstalled with all the hardware still loose, well go ahead and install the grill and the fair head. Well go ahead and hole the winch plate into place and then well go ahead and install our carriage bolts from the winch mount. Theyll point towards to outside and then well stack the grill on top of that. Then the winch fair head will go on top of the grill. In this case, were going to remove the bolt and the lower roller to help get our cable through. Go ahead and remove the lower roller to have access to tighten down the hardware. Then well loosely reinstall the hardware for the roller once we have it in place. Then, well attach it to the bolts and then put the lock nut on top of it.For all our hardware loosely installed, we can go ahead and start tightening down everything. Then well tighten down the roller as one of the last things we do. This will be a tight fit with the hardware so well need some patience with this. Once everything is tightened down, we can go ahead and move on to the wiring of the winch. At this point, well go ahead and start running our wires. To get access, we also remove the bottom panel as well. This bottom panel will be reinstalled at the end when we done running our wires. Starting from our winch, well go ahead and take our blue and yellow wires and run them from the front to behind the backseat. When we do this, were going to stay away from anything moving like suspension components or the drive drain. Well run it underneath the differential up front and well zip tie it as
