Discovering Lily Chitty - The Young Collective

Shropshire Museums and Archives holds a collection of archaeological artefacts, illustrations, watercolours and personal letters revealing the work of pioneering local archaeologist, Lily F. Chitty. ‘Discovering Lily Chitty’ explores her life, legacy and contribution to our understanding of Stone Age Shropshire. It brings together the work of our Ludlow group, who researched and developed the exhibition text, and the Shrewsbury collective who created the short film. The exhibition opens at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery in September 2024 and will go on to tour other Shropshire venues. This film was researched, written and directed by Shropshire Museums and Archives Young Collective who are based at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery and Shropshire Museums Collections Centre, Ludlow. The Young Collective is a forum for young people aged 14 to 24 who meet regularly to get involved in museum life. They work alongside staff, offer advice, lead on museum projects and get creative whilst building individual skills, confidence and meeting new people. Invaluable guidance and support was provided by Shropshire-based MediaActive throughout the film development.
