Maria Santos, LPN at Penn Medicine Home Health Lancaster, shares her story as a visitation nurse. Working as a visiting nurse affords Maria the opportunity to travel and be in different places and explore different environments. Being out in the community, she is able to have a more connected experience with her patients. “I am bilingual, so I love being able to help Spanish-speaking patients, who don’t understand English, but when they see that it’s a Spanish-speaking nurse it makes everything so much better.” At Penn Medicine, Maria always feels supported by her managers. She can trust that they “have her back.” Within the next five years, Maria would like to become an RN through the Penn Medicine tuition reimbursement program. “I love what I do.
