Once Upon A Sport is a grassroots sports documentary series that focuses on the emotion, history and social significance of sport’s lesser known stories. Produced by Onion TV, these tales of triumph, redemption and resilience in the face of adversity are told with an unbiased eye and a keen focus on the feel good element of amateur sport. Once Upon A Sport - Back On Track: Follows the achievers of today/leaders of tomorrow, as a team of young rugby league players - with mentoring from the South Sydney Rabbitohs - start their 3 month preparation for the biggest challenge of their lives… The Young Guns Development Academy offers opportunities for young people to train, prepare and reach their potential as athletes. Together with the obvious physical, nutritional and mental benefits of such a program, the YGDA also assists in developing life skills through continued mentoring and guidance from their coaching and support staff. In 2014, the YGDA will be sending a team of their most promising young rugby league players on the trip of a lifetime - an opportunity to walk the Kokoda Track and play against a local PNG team over the space of five days in October. The trek and climatic game are mere catalysts for a greater goal; one of teamwork, growth, motivation and, ultimately, achievement. Join Onion TV as the cameras follow the team from their initial training on the sands of Maroubra, through to their Papua New Guinea trek. Watch as the group link up with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Kokoda, and then take on the might of the local PNG talent. Back On Track highlights the great work being done with our young people and how each of them can aspire to greater things with the right guidance and mentoring. Starring Michael McGuire and Matt King.
