JESUS’ TRANSFORMING POWER John 2:1-11 Key Verse: 11 “What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.” INTRODUCTION I. FIND THE PROBLEM V. 3, “When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘They have no more wine.’” II. BRING IT TO JESUS V. 3, “When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘They have no more wine.’” III. SEEK GOD'S GLORY V. 4, “’Woman, why do you involve me?’ Jesus replied. ‘My hour has not yet come.’” Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” 1 John 5:14, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” James 4:3, “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” IV. DO WHATEVER JESUS TELLS YOU V. 5, “His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’” 1) To the brim. V. 6-7, “Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they filled them to the brim.” 2) Bring the Washing Water to the Master of the Banquet. V. 8, “Then he told them, ‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.’ They did so.” Hebrews 5:8 (NLT), “Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.” Matthew 26:39, “’My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.’” V. EXPERIENCE JESUS’ CHANGING POWER. V. 9-10, “…and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, ‘Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.’” 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” CONCLUSION V. 11, "What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him." ONE WORD: Jesus can change you!
