Victoria Phillips discusses the history of the American Ballet Theatre in relation to the exhibit she curated at the Library of Congress. Speaker Biography: Victoria Phillips is a doctoral candidate at Columbia University in history. Her dissertation, "The Strange Commodity of Cultural Exchange: Martha Graham and her Cold War State Department Tours, 1955-1987," addresses cultural diplomacy. Her published works have appeared in the New York Times, American Communist History, Dance Research Journal, Ballet Review, and Dance Chronicle. In France she curated "Dance is a Weapon" (2008-2010), and authored the catalog; she co-curated "Dance and Democracy" (2012-2013) and "American Ballet Theatre: 75 Years Touring the Globe" (2014-2015) at the Library of Congress, which included several public lectures.
