When God's people face annihilation, we expect a dramatic miracle. Ten plagues. A parted sea. A burning bush. Instead, God works through something far more ordinary — a king who can't sleep. In this sermon, we walk through Esther 6 and explore how God's providence works even in his silence. Esther is caught between two impossible Persian decrees, the messianic line is on the verge of extinction, and yet God sets his plan in motion through a single restless night. A prideful man springs his own trap. An enemy is forced to proclaim the triumph of the very people he sought to destroy. And the advisors who once fueled Haman's confidence turn against him with a sobering verdict — you will not prevail. The book of Esther reminds us that God's silence is never God's absence. He does not need plagues or miracles to overturn the schemes of his enemies. He simply needs one sleepless night. The decrees of Persia could not stand. Neither could death itself. Because the God who worked quietly through Esther's story is the same God who raised Christ triumphantly from the grave.
