When people discuss John Lennon's solo career, the albums given the most attention are typically Plastic Ono Band and Imagine -- the sparse primal scream therapy record and the album renowned for its iconic anthem of renunciation. We then skip on over to John's death and briefly touch on Double Fantasy, a representation of John's househusband bliss. For my money, all of John's work is worth considering. John's life was tragically cut short in 1980 -- I decided to make this ranking shorter than the others so as not to give away too many of his songs. While John's more raw, confessional material is probably what he's most associated with, I've always been more of a fan of happier, hopeful John myself, which I think you'll see reflected in this ranking. John had a whole host of beautiful demos waiting to be recorded at the time of his death and I chose not to include these unfinished songs alongside those released by John. However, those released by Yoko (or John's estate, broadly) were up for consideration.
