Inspired by his father’s love of singing, Coby never imagined he’d one day leave Scotland to pursue a musical dream across the Atlantic. Life dealt him some heavy blows, including the loss of loved ones and a near-fatal car accident. These hardships spurred a move to Louisiana and, eventually, to Music City. There, he found a guiding force in mentor Ralph Murphy, who helped him discover his voice as Nashville’s first “Scottish cowboy.” Coby’s musical roots lie in classic country and Christian influences, from George Jones and Johnny Cash to George Strait, Tim McGraw, and Jason Aldean. This blend of old and new country helped him develop a distinct style. With over 1,000 songs to his name, his dedication to the craft is unwavering. He studied music, production, and business at the Universities of Stirling and Glasgow, giving him a strong foundation both artistically and professionally. Since moving to the U.S. in 2017, Coby has earned more than 23 music awards, including Best Love Song for “The Lucky One” and World Gospel Song for “Let Your Light Shine Through.” In 2024, his single “Southern Girl” topped both the International and Australian Country charts. After a recent health scare, Coby felt called to a greater mission—using his music to uplift those facing life’s toughest battles. He now dedicates his work to supporting motherless and fatherless children, cancer warriors, and veterans with PTSD, aiming to bring light and hope through every lyric he sings.
