The human body is a masterpiece of intricate anatomy. The circulatory system, like a bustling highway network, delivers vital nourishment through robust vessels, sustaining every part of our being. In this video, we have discussed the arteries that supply blood to the lower limb. ▬ 🕘 TIMESTAMPS 00:00 - Introduction 00:50 - Circulatory System 03:03 - Aorta 04:59 - Gluteal Region 08:06 - sqadia.com ▬ 📌 Gluteal Region Arteries Although the gluteal region is in close proximity to the pelvis, abdomen, and groin region, it is classified as part of the lower limb region. This classification is based on its connection to the rest of the lower limb through the presence of the hip joint, hip muscles, and neurovasculature. 👉 Gluteal Arteries In the gluteal region, the arteries include the superior gluteal artery, emerging from the posterior division of the internal iliac artery. Inferior gluteal artery, arising from the anterior division of the internal iliac artery. They divide into branches, nourishing the gluteal muscles and surrounding structures. 👉 Pudendal Artery The internal pudendal artery, another branch of the internal iliac artery, briefly appears in the gluteal region before traversing the greater sciatic foramen and making its way into the ischioanal fossa. Additionally, the gluteal region features notable anastomoses, such as trochanteric and cruciate anastomosis, connecting the gluteal and lower limb arteries. ▬ 📌 Thigh Region Arteries The region of supplied by branches of arteries from both external and internal iliac arteries. 🟡 Femoral Artery and Its Branches 🟡 Obturator Artery and Its Branches Femoral Artery The main artery that supplies the region of the thigh, in fact, the entire lower limb is the femoral artery. It is a branch of the external iliac artery, that enters the region of the thigh by passing beneath the inguinal ligament. It then journeys through the femoral triangle and the adductor canal, accompanied by the femoral nerve and vein. A remarkable transformation occurs at the lower end of the adductor canal, as the femoral artery passes through an opening in the adductor magnus muscle, becoming the popliteal artery. This marks the next chapter in our adventure, as the popliteal artery continues down the leg, branching off into the anterior and posterior tibial arteries within the popliteal fossa 👉 Obturator Artery In addition to the femoral artery, we also explored the obturator artery, a branch of the internal iliac artery. It travels along the medial side of the thigh, supplying the muscles of the medial compartment. ▬ 📌 Popliteal and Leg Region Arteries Mainly four arteries supply the popliteal and leg region in the lower limb. These are: 🟠 Popliteal Artery 🟠 Anterior Tibial Artery 🟠 Posterior Tibial Artery 🟠 Peroneal Artery 👉 Popliteal Artery Starting with the popliteal artery, it emerges from the adductor magnus and descends through the popliteal fossa behind the knee joint. The artery gives rise to genicular branches that form anastomoses around the knee, as well as muscular and cutaneous branches. 👉 Anterior Tibial Artery The anterior tibial artery supplies the anterior compartment of the leg, passing through the interosseous membrane and descending along the front of the leg. It forms anastomoses around the knee and ankle, ensuring blood flow to adjacent muscles and tissues. 👉 Posterior Tibial Artery The posterior tibial artery provides blood supply to the posterior and lateral compartments of the leg before continuing into the sole of the foot. It runs deep within the posterior compartment, alongside specific muscles, and sends branches such as the circumflex fibular artery and peroneal artery to maintain the blood flow in the leg and lateral compartment. ▬ 📌 Foot Region Arteries Arteries that supply blood to the foot region are the terminal branches of the arteries that supply the leg region. These arteries are named as: 🟢 Dorsalis pedis artery, a terminal branch of the anterior tibial artery. 🟢 Medial Plantar artery and Lateral plantar artery, terminal branches of the posterior tibial artery. 👉 Plantar Arch The plantar arch is a vital component of the arterial network in the foot. It is formed by the anastomosis (joining) of two key arteries: the lateral plantar artery and the deep plantar artery. The plantar arch gives rise to several plantar metatarsal arteries, which supply blood to the toes. Understanding the arterial supply to the foot is essential for medical professionals and contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the foot's structure and functionality. ▬ 🎬 5500+ sqadia.com Medical Videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👩🏻⚕️ Accessible Medical Student Education 24/7/365 💡 Simplifying Medical Learning 💪 Study Hard, Dream Big, Achieve More #anatomy #anatomylecture #anatomifisiologi #anatomía #anatomictherapy #medicalstudentmotivationalvideo #medicaleducation #medicalvideo #medicine #medicalstudy #medicalstudents #onlinemedicine
