Overview of Sonosite S2 - The procedures machine

This is an introductory overview of the machine that we most commonly use for procedures. There are 2 linear transducers. One has a small footprint and is light and useful for vascular access. The larger footprint transducer is better for in-plane procedures, such as fascia iliaca blocks. As with all ultrasound procedures - clean before and afterwards using Clinell wipes and use a sterile cover. If blood contamination inadvertently occurs the transducers need to be sent for high level disinfection - which is not currently readily available to the ED. Ask me for assistance (or if I am not available a friendly sonographer might help out, on an unofficial basis). Advice and processes have not been officially endorsed by my employer.
