About this Event: Cincinnati Children's offers this live, online Q&A for young women and parents of girls born with anorectal malformations (ARMs). During this event, our co-hosts, Lesley Breech, MD, and Debbie Morse, BSN, RN, CPN, will discuss gynecologic concerns for females born with ARMs and answer questions from you and other families online, in real-time. Gynecologic Concerns & Anorectal Malformations Many young women and girls born with ARMs may experience gynecological concerns. These concerns are not often addressed at birth because bowel and urologic problems may be serious or life threatening. Gynecologic concerns are most often found in young girls and women born with the following conditions: • imperforate anus (in females) • anorectal malformations (in females) • rectoperineal fistula (in females) • rectovestibular fistula • cloacal exstrophy (OEIS) • persistent cloaca • urogenital sinus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Below are frequently asked questions that were discussed during the event: • Does my daughter have a gynecologic anomaly? • Will my daughter get menstrual periods? • Is our daughter at risk for any other gynecological problems? • Will my daughter have normal sexual function? • What problems may she be at risk for during pregnancy?
