Marine Corps Artillery and Casualty Officer Richard R. Rodgers set his mind on joining the military at the young and vulnerable age of six, after learning that his father had been killed in action during the Battle of Guam in 1944. As soon as he was old enough, Rodgers entered the U.S. Naval Academy and trained to become a Marine Corps officer. Shortly after graduating, he was deployed to Vietnam, where he served as the artillery officer for the 12th Marines, fighting alongside the 9th Marines—following directly in his father’s footsteps. We are currently searching for U.S. military veterans who are open to being interviewed and included on this channel. If you know of a veteran who would like to share their experiences and war stories, send us an email at [email protected] and we will see what we can do!
