Because it is an electrostatic transducer, not a piezo, you get a warm accurate tone. It fits in the "eye" of either violin or viola bridge. Strong output signal. No feedback! Schertler recommends removing the wing of the eye slot of the bridge as you can see in the photo we show at 0:12. Matt didn't cut off that portion of his bridge because he doesn't usually use this type of pickup on his personal instrument. As you can hear, the pickup sounds good without removing that portion of the bridge. It should sound even better with a recommended installation.
