Plym Valley publicly unveils 43063 in INTERCITY livery! + The last x4 Power Cars & x6 Mk3s at Laira!

A great morning down at the Plym Valley Railway for their public unveiling of the HST power car 43063, looking resplendent in its recently applied heritage Intercity Swallow livery. We also had the opportunity to catch the former Northern Pacer unit 'Skipper' 142023 in action giving rides along the line between Marsh Mills and Plym Bridge, as well as the Intercity liveried sentinel shunter and other pieces of rolling stock on display around the railway. The event was well attended with photographers turning up keen to get a shot of this historic piece of rolling stock, now consigned to the history books, and it was great seeing the passion and enthusiasm from the volunteers, keen to adorn various custom headboards to the rolling stock through the day and although 43063 itself is no longer a runner it was great to see first hand the effort that’s gone into this superb cosmetic restoration and really interesting to hear the plans the line has to have the power car as a gate guardian at the entrance to Marsh Mills in the future! As it was so close, we couldn't resist a jaunt up the road to Laira Depot for a look at the last x4 remaining power cars now there, 43088, 43156 (still wearing 'Maen Castle' nameplates) and 43092 + 43093 which were both attached to a rake of x6 Mk3's, all ready to leave in the near future for their respective next chapters, while the new kids in town, the 175s watched on. The day saw mixed weather with some heavy rainstorms at times but also occasional sunshine allowing for some great shots rewarding the photographers patience, and great to see the Plym Valley really getting behind the heritage and giving a nod to the great liveries of the past today! | 08.02.2026 I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for watching!
