In this video, we examine a 1968 Porsche 911 L engine. The story goes that the engine was rebuilt with new chain tensioners installed. But the new tensioners failed on startup. Then, the chain tensioners were rebuilt, but they failed again. Lastly, he tried replacing the tensioners with an aftermarket set, but this did not stop the noises. There were several culprits for the engine noise: chain tensioner failure, chain guide rails, incorrectly installed flywheel resulting in wear, carburetor throttle shafts.
